The DL-FEP Test System stands in front of the DL-FEP System (or any Data Link Serveur) and provides at each interface either an emulation of the adjacent system ("full harness configuration") or an access to the real adjacent system ("half harness configuration").
Full-Harness Configuration
In the Full Harness Configuration, the DL-FEP Test System emulates all the adjacent systems (FDPS, ATN and FANS aircraft, SNMP Manager, Legal Recoridng System).
Half-Harness Configuration
In the Half Harness Configuration, the emulation of one (or more) interfaces is replaced by the real system(s). This approach supports a step integration process in the target environment where the DL-FEP System is progressively tested in isolation against each real adjacent up to the final configuration where all real systems are used.
Automatic Test Bed
The DL-FEP Test System comes with a full test environement allowing definition of pre-defined scenarios and automatic run and test result generation of test suites. This allows a re-usability by the customers of the tests provided with the tool (test suites exist for ATN, FANS (including accommodation), SNMP, ...) and easy run of non-regression tests when new DL-FEP System versions are made available. The Test System relies on the IBM(c) RTRT tool.
User Friendly MMI
Data link operations performed by ATN aircraft, FANS aircraft and FDPS (e.g. logon, CPDLC connection establishement and message exchanges, etc...) can be emulated using the Man-Machine Interfaces provided with the DL-FEP Test System. These tools can be very useful when free testing is performed and to test abnormal situations difficult to reproduce with real aircraft or FDPS systems.
Application Programatic Interfaces (API)
C/C++ APIs are provided for both air and ground data link services to allow customer' simulation tools to trigger data link events.
